The sixth and final vlog featuring our Year In Industry Students who have not long headed back to uni, is with Benjamin, a Trainee Design Coordinator, who talks about nearing practical completion at Peddimore, a 2.2 million sq ft distribution centre with four storeys for IM Properties. He also mentions his time working at The Residences in Edgbaston, which has been handed over to client Patrizia. You can also watch James, Jacob and Suleman talk about their commercial placements and James and Alex their operations placements if you follow the links.
He explains how his design placement is very varied with targets, from managing project trackers and ensuring information is stored in the right place to coordinating the design process effectively and helping to demonstrate that the building meets the specified criteria, including for the scheme’s BREEAM assessment. Click play to find out what challenges Benjamin has faced – and overcome – and what it’s like to be part of the Winvic team. The Winvic team has helped him grow and learn and he now returns to Univeristy of Birmingham for the final year in his Architectural Design degree.
Benjamin’s advice to any future YII future students is to engage with as many people as possible around site to learn and be able to appreciate everyone’s roles. If this could be you, visit our careers pages, or email training@winvic.co.uk.
