This project has spanned two-kilometres, from Dysart Road’s junction with Sankt Augustin Way to the A1 overbridge, and has been delivered under the General Works Lot contract, which aims to improve infrastructure assets across Lincolnshire over a four-year period.

Winvic has excavated and rebuilt the entire two-kilometre road in sections, redeveloped the carriageway, resurfaced and created new pathways using nearly 8,000 tonnes of material.

Additionally, Winvic completed comprehensive drainage, kerbing, and channel repairs, and refreshed carriageway markings. As part of the project, localised traffic management was implemented to ensure safety and minimise disruption throughout the construction process.

To ensure public safety, a westbound one-way closure on Dysart Road was in place throughout the works, along with a combination of daytime and night-time road closures towards the end of the project.

Social Value

A Social Value Plan was created and delivered over the 4 months of works. Key focuses for LCC were to support the local economy through procurement of local SMES and VCSEs, creating local employment and skills and supporting the local community especially those impacted by the works. Initiatives included:

  • Social value meeting held onsite with the supply chain before the project started, creating a platform to gain an understanding of project employment opportunities for local people.
  • Cascading local opportunities to local employment and training providers, including DWP job centres, local authority employment access team and community groups
  • Donated 70 copies of the ‘When I Grow Up’ book to Isaac Newton Primary School
  • 34% of workers from within 30 miles of the project.
  • 10 people were offered opportunities who were new to the construction sector, these included roles such as; groundworker, labourer and traffic marshall.
  • 2 apprentices supported on the project including creation of one new opportunity.
  • 12 veterans were supported via the project, with one being a new opportunity.
