As yesterday marked the beginning of National Careers Week 2022 – a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK – we’re kicking off a series of video blogs with our current Year In Industry Students. We visited each trainee on site, and they told us about their journey into construction and what their role entails.
Every summer we welcome a new cohort of Year In Industry students who have completed their second year studies at university. They stay with us between 10 and 12 months, working on one or more projects to get hands on experience and to learn from the best in the business.
First up, it’s Tom, a Trainee Site Engineer, who was in awe of construction sites when he was younger… now he’s working on SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton, a 450-acre site that will eventually house 5 million square feet of industrial facilities and a Rail Freight Interchange. Click play to listen to Tom explain what he does day-to-day and what his focus will be for the remainder of his placement.
