Winvic Construction Ltd, a leading main contractor specialising in turnkey solutions for industrial, build-to-rent, student accommodation and commercial projects, had the opportunity to welcome local politician and guests to the construction site of Lidl GB’s new £70 million 630,000 sq ft Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) at EuroCentral, Motherwell, Scotland. Visitors included Airdie and Shotts MP Neil Grey, Central Scotland list MSP Graham Simpson, North Lanarkshire Council’s chief executive Des Murray and leader Jim Logue.
The guests were given a tour of the site where the whole building framework is now in place, Mr Gray said: “It’s great to see the construction progress at the distribution centre and to meet the team delivering the project – it’s a very impressive site and will be an incredible facility”. The tour itself was led by Lidl’s regional director Ross Millar and head of property Gordon Rafferty, as well as members of Lidl’s senior management team in Scotland.
Neil Bannerman Winvic’s Project Manager on site explained: “The new warehouse for Lidl has been confirmed as it’s largest in Great Britain and Winvic couldn’t be prouder to be delivering the project, which will be the base for 600 employees in various roles, to us it is more than just building a shed.”
Mr Millar said “ As we head into the final phase of construction, the team here at Lidl are all incredibly excited about moving into our new Scottish home.”
The new facility will be fully operational by November 2019, to watch the build live click here.
This is the third RDC constructed by Winvic for Lidl GB in recent years following the successful completion of Lidl’s UK Distribution Centres in Exeter and Doncaster.
