WINVIC have developed a new state-of-the-art distribution base which will help fashion retailer Boden push ahead with the expansion of their retail operations.
The 250,000 sq. ft. warehouse and 25,000 sq. ft. of office space constructed at Optimus Point near Leicester provides the online and mail order catalogue specialists with increased capacity in one of the prime, most sought after logistics locations in the United Kingdom.
Contracted by Wilson Bowden, we completed the £13.6 million distribution centre project on time and within budget following a 43-week build programme.
“The new distribution centre will help lead Boden’s expansion plans in the UK,” explained Naim Basha, our Project Manager at the Optimus Point site.
“We have built a bespoke warehouse and office complex, giving Boden capacity to maximise an excellent location so close to the motorway network.
“This enabled them to remain in an area where they had previously been based at Meridian Business Park, providing a major boost for the local economy.”
Located next to the A46 roundabout with a slip road leading to junction 21A of the M1 motorway, Boden’s new distribution centre could not be better placed right at the heart of the country’s road infrastructure in the East Midlands.
The excellent location is matched by the quality of the new base which we have provided for Boden with a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
The 250,000 sq. ft. warehouse features 24 dock levellers, four level access doors and a haunch height of 13 metres, while fit-out elements on the first floor of the two-storey office building will accommodate the retailer’s customer service centre.
At the outset of the build programme, earthworks involved levelling the site with excavation by the roundabout where the offices and car park for staff are located and movement of earth to develop a six-and-half metre retaining wall facing out towards the A46.
