It’s the second week of our Year In Industry students vlog takeover and today we’re here with Suleman who has been working with our commercial team; catch another commercial placement student video with Jacob here and James who has been undertaking an engineering placement speaks to us here.
Suleman has been working at Crown Place in Nottingham, a 426 Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme for CRM Students. When we spoke to him for this video in June the project had recently topped out and was progressing well internally; however now, the first 250 rooms have been handed over and students have moved in, ready for the start of a new academic year.
We asked ‘why construction?’ and Suleman said he wanted to combine mathematical and business skills in a fast-paced role within a growing industry. He has certainly found just that as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and he’s enjoyed being on site, where he can see the project’s progress, rather than being stuck in a remote office. In particular, he’s found the logic of fitting everything together in a compact space and the careful sequencing of a multi-room project fascinating. And for the future? He’s looking forward to going back to Nottingham Trent University to complete his Quantity Surveying degree already hopes to return to Winvic after graduation.
