The Plot 5, Tamworth East team recently had the pleasure of welcoming The Polesworth School on site where they are constructing a 385,000 sq ft industrial warehouse for client St Modwen.
15 Year 9 girls and two staff members from the local school spent time with Winvic’s Project Manager, Adam Broadhurst, Trainee Quantity Surveyor Abigail Butler and HSEQ Manager Amy Millership, gaining an insight into the varied aspects of construction. Winvic is always keen to engage with young people to encourage them into the industry by showcasing the promising career paths that construction can offer.
Adam Broadhurst, Winvic’s Project Manager on the scheme commented:
“It was a delight to have the opportunity to break down some of the barriers by showing the next generation the different opportunities that a career in construction can offer. The students appeared to really enjoy learning about the varied roles and processes on site as much as we enjoyed showing them”.
Chris Davis, Head of Careers at Polesworth School said “I would like to thank Winvic and in particular Adam for the invitation and this opportunity to visit a construction site and learn so much more about the different careers within this industry. It was great we could show a number of Year 9 girls the diversity of jobs in the industry and for them to meet female role models is a great inspiration and motivation for the pupils. It really does help if young people can visit an employer and see people at work and learn about their jobs. We look forward to a return visit to see the project at its completion stage. Thank you again Adam for this insightful visit.”
