It has been announced that Winvic has been selected as a finalist in the Knowsley Business Awards 2022 and is hoping to win the local accolade of Contractor of the Year with acknowledgement also being given to Winvic’s client PLP. The ceremony will take place in the Grand Marquee at Knowsley Safari on 24 November.
National social enterprise Fusion21 – PLP and Winvic’s social value delivery partner on the recently completed PLP Knowsley industrial project – nominated Winvic, stating: “Over the last two years Winvic have done everything they can to make sure this development benefits local people and local businesses on behalf of site developer PLP. Not only have they met their social value target, they have doubled it.”
PLP and Winvic worked alongside Fusion21, Knowsley Council and Knowsley Chamber of Commerce to identify and support local Knowsley businesses who had the potential to form part of their supply chain. Furthermore, local people were employed on the site and the site team also actively supported local charities by volunteering their time and donating materials. In September, Winvic’s Project Manager on PLP Knowsley discussed the scheme and the community work on the Winvic blog.
The Knowsley scheme’s completion was recently announced by specialist logistics developer and investment manager PLP, with news that the 850,000 sq ft distribution warehouse has been pre-let to a global internet retailer.
Winvic’s Head of Industrial, Distribution and Logistics, Danny Nelson, said: “While it’s fantastic that Winvic has been nominated for Contractor of the Year, the award – if we win – is also for our client PLP and all our suppliers, partners and stakeholders. Without collaboration and shared goals, constructing such cutting-edge industrial facilities and delivering social value benefits to leave a positive legacy for the local community wouldn’t be possible.”
Sarah Maguire, Social Value Manager at Fusion21 commented: “Winvic take their corporate responsibility seriously and this shines through on their construction sites. For over 20 years they have been committed to being a responsible business by doing things in the right way and leaving a lasting positive, social, environmental and economic legacy as a result of its actions.
“As a business with Merseyside roots, we’re delighted to have supported Winvic on this project, through our partnership with Knowsley Council which ensures everyone in the borough is positively impacted when major investment is granted planning permission. The development has achieved a fantastic set of social value outcomes benefiting the whole community with social value you can see and has delivered more than £550,000 social return on investment.”
