WINVIC will work with real estate asset manager Long Harbour for the first time on the delivery of another major multi-room scheme in Leicester city centre.
As preferred contractor for the £43m regeneration of a site on Vaughan Way opposite the Highcross shopping centre, we will be constructing 297 apartments for rent that offer high-quality living space and excellent amenities including rooftop gardens.
Construction of this specifically-designed scheme for the Private Rented Sector (PRS) is now underway, with completion of the homes expected by April 2019.
It is the latest of a number of multi-room projects which we have undertaken in Leicester, the most recent of which saw the completion of Southgates student accommodation a short distance round the inner ring road from the Vaughan Way scheme.
Danny Cross, our Business Development Manager, said: “This is another excellent opportunity to enhance our reputation for delivering high-profile, multi-room schemes in Leicester.
“This will be our first opportunity to work with Long Harbour on behalf of the Sowden Group, so we look forward to that association delivering a project that provides the city centre with more high-quality living space.”
Our appointment as preferred contractor followed Long Harbour and the Sowden Group exchanging contracts on their forward fund transaction for the scheme.
Long Harbour’s Investment and Development Director, Rebecca Taylor commented: “We are very pleased to have closed this deal with our local developer partner, the Sowden Group, and Winvic Construction Ltd as the contractor.
“Leicester was identified as a target area for investment early on, given its diverse and growing economy and forecast population growth. We are passionate about delivering both quality and affordable homes that people will want to rent.”
