Winvic Construction Ltd’s Technical Services and Sustainability Director, Arun Thaneja, has been chosen to be one of the expert judges to evaluate the 2024 Digital Construction Awards. The Digital Construction Awards celebrate the most pioneering projects, teams, and individuals championing innovation and technology in the built environment, whether at the bleeding edge of technology and digitalisation or exploring digital technologies and processes for the first time.
The Digital Construction Awards are produced in partnership with Digital Construction Week, BIMplus, Construction Management and the Chartered Institute of Building, and Arun was recently invited by the editor of Construction Management, Will Mann, to take part in a roundtable discussion on decarbonisation and embracing digital technology, along with other experts.
Winvic, a leading main contractor that specialises in the design and delivery of private and public sector construction and civil engineering projects, was a finalist in the 2023 Digital Construction Awards, in two categories. The AI-based Embodied Carbon Calculator (ECC) that Winvic developed was shortlisted for the Delivering Net Zero with Digital Innovation Award and the Digital Innovation in Health Safety and Wellbeing Award finalists included Winvic’s VR Health and Safety Training.
Those interested in entering can view the categories and their criteria now and entries may be submitted from 9 January. The deadline for entries is 15 March 2024, the shortlisted entries will be revealed on 13 May and next year’s awards will take place on Tuesday, 2 July at the Brewery in Central London.
Arun Thaneja, Winvic’s Technical Services and Sustainability Director, said: “While I’m very familiar with the Digital Construction Awards and each of the partners that help to produce them, it was still a surprise to be asked to take one of the seats on the judging panel. It’s a real honour to be recognised for my own industry expertise in this way and a privilege to be able to learn about numerous innovations and digitalisation projects that are going on in construction right now. With so much talent and passion in our industry, I’m not sure selecting winners is going to be an easy task!”
The organisers of the Digital Construction Awards said: “We’re proud to stage the Awards again – the industry’s Oscars – and we look forward to celebrating the progress the industry is making. To ensure the best of the best receive the recognition they deserve, we are expanding our judging panel to more than 40 well-known experts drawn from across the built environment sector.”
