Orwell Bridge project wins ‘Bridge Project of the Year’ at Highways Awards 2026

Winvic Construction Ltd has been recognised for its industry-leading approach to project delivery, with the Orwell Bridge Westbound Joint Replacement project winning Bridge Project of the Year at the Highways Awards 2026.

Delivered through National Highways’ Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) in the East Region, the project involved the urgent replacement of deteriorated expansion joints on the A14 Orwell Bridge – a critical transport link connecting the Port of Felixstowe with the wider UK road network.

The project presented significant technical and logistical challenges, requiring close collaboration between Winvic, National Highways, WSP, Chevron Traffic Management and the wider supply chain. Through innovative engineering solutions, detailed planning and a collaborative approach, the team successfully reduced the construction programme from a potential 175 days to just 37 days, significantly reducing disruption for road users and the local community.

The award recognises the team’s commitment to safe and efficient delivery, innovation, collaboration and customer focus throughout the project. The scheme also delivered strong environmental, community and social value outcomes, including the use of local suppliers and engagement with the local community.

The award further demonstrates Winvic’s capability in delivering complex highways and infrastructure projects, while building strong collaborative relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
